After completing the first leg of the trip that was in Bangkok, i was excited to take on the next adventure at the beach Moving from Colorado to California, i have always had a big heart for the ocean. Just something about it is so peaceful yet so terrifying at the same time. You wont find me very willing to just dive right in, knowing that so much of the ocean still is so unknown, but here…it just was so welcoming, and hot. Maybe thats what made me jump in haha The water is incredibly clear, and as you look further out, beautiful shades of green and blue pop up and just sparkle in the sun. The insane rock islands that looked like they were just picked up and placed in their locations are unbelievably huge. From Bangkok, we took a short 90 minute plane ride, 10 minute bus ride, and 15 boat ride to arrive to this beautiful paradise. I didn’t see it for myself but apparently they suggest you take a boat here instead of driving on the roads for reasons i believe concerning the roads. I think the boat is more beautiful anyways. Once we got to our Bungalows at Railay Garden View Resort, we sprayed on that much needed bug spray, suncreen and limited clothing and started to venture around. The place we stayed was about a 5 minute walk from town, 10 minute walk to the west side of the island and about 15 minutes from the main beach. It was just simple bungalows, mosquito nets, bathrooms, breakfast included, awesome service and of course great views. When we started to explore our surroundings we explored the most popular first, obviously. The main beach was full of tourists from all over the road and tons of little vender boats. We also had snorkeling, deep water rock climbing and sea kayaking on our agenda, which we were able to knock out two in one day. It was an awesome day, everyone should try all those things, because that is what Railay beach is known for. When you go on a tour, you get grouped with people, not only just other randoms paying for the excitement but the guides as well. You either score or lose, and we definitely scored. Our group consisted of a about 6 or 7 people, all from all over the world. Of course there was us from the USA, there was a pair of siblings from Germany (who we all thought was a couple up until the boat ride back haha), a rich, male traveler from Ireland that just seemed adventurous and was super funny. Then there was our instructor Jason, who is from Capetown, South Africa. He was a monkey, literally. He did all kinds of tricks on the rocks, helped everyone out, funny, blunt and randomly had a girlfriend from Arkansas. So random but cool….they met in Phucket and just moved down her together for a few months. The rock climbing required tons of body strength and patience, and some people are really good at it and some people are not. It was a ton of fun and the snorkeling was cool. Tons of fish and the water was beautiful. I wouldnt change anything today except for the amount of sunscreen i put on haha
